Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is performed in our Connecticut offices, and can improve the appearance and proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony. There are many individual and discreet areas of the nose that may contribute to a patient’s dissatisfaction with the appearance of their nose.
The dorsum or bridge of the nose might be too wide or too narrow, too high (“bump”) or flat. Similarly, the base or nostrils may be too wide. Very often people are dissatisfied with just the tip of the nose, be it too round or too boxy or square.
These situations result from excess or incorrectly positioned cartilage or bones found below the skin. The skin will simply follow the contours of the underlying structures. Merely changing the shape and position of the bone and cartilages will allow the skin to re-drape over anatomically, proportional structures. There are many patients who have both of these issues and some who will have only one or the other. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.
